The U.S. Geological Survey says a 3.8-magnitude earthquake shook Indiana near Kokomo this morning.

According to the USGS National Earthquake Information Service, the earthquake occured at 7:55 a.m. 15 miles east and slightly southeast of Kokomo, Ind., roughly 100 miles from Niles.

The USGS says earthquakes east of the Rocky Mountains are typically felt over a much broader region, and a magnitude 4.0 eastern U.S. earthquake typically can be felt at many places as far as 60 miles from its epicenter.
