Bowlers inducted into Hall of Fame

The Niles Four Flags USBC Bowling Association (NFFUSBC) held its annual Hall of Fame inductee presentation and Baker Tournament at Joey Armadillo’s Bowling Center on Dec. 11.

The newest inductees were Jill (Ayres) Martin for her years of dedication of service to bowling as Association Secretary WIBC and Association Manager of NFFUSBC; Cindy Cross for her high average held in many leagues; Bob Hartz who was a three-time winner of the annual All-Star Tournament; Hub Hesseltine for his years of bowling and sponsorship of teams; and Leroy Hilligoss was a three-time winner of the annual All-Star Tournament.

Also inducted were Craig Kizer for years of providing bowling at AA Timberlanes; Bobby (Charles) Leak as the 1978 All-Star Winner and his years of bowling; Charlie Lewis was the first All-Star Winner in 1953; Henry (Hank) Miswick had a 300 in the Petersen Tournament and the 1971 top qualifier in the All-Star Tournament; Chuck Olinghouse was honored for his many years of service as the Association Secretary and League Secretary of ABC Men’s Bowling Association; and Buddy Stanley for his years of dedication to bowling and his continued sponsorship of many teams and the annual Stanley Tournament.

Following the inductee presentation a Hall of Fame Baker Tournament was held in their honor with 10 teams competing. First place went to the Quality Fire team consisting of Buddy Stanley, Sandy Haase, Shari Kidwell, Rick Kidwell and Rick Haase. Second place went to the Coor’s Light team consisting of Joel Ealy, Richie Benninghoff, Jason Payne, Brad Bedwell and Mike Gray.

Third place went to the Sunday Night Mixed team consisting of Dee Mercado, Jerry Mercado, Chris Bendixen, Nena Bendixen and Donna Medlin. Fourth place went to Hub’s team consisting of Dave Medlin, George Bell Jr., George Bell III, Tom Reames and Bill Reeves Jr.

The NFFUSBC would like to congratulate our second class of inductees and also the winners of the tournament. We would also like to say “thank you” to all that participated in the tournament and all those that helped put the tournament together and run it.
