Three Howard Township firefighters were honored Saturday at the department’s annual party at the Niles Elks Lodge.

David Mattiford was named Firefighter of the Year.

Theresa Brady was selected as Most Improved Firefighter and received her five-year service pin.

Capt. Chris Cozine was also honored with a pin for 10 years of service.

The fire department, established in 1948 and located at 2681 Detroit Rd., Niles, currently has 15 firefighters. The chief is Ed Leneway.

The fire department would like to wish citizens a safe and happy holiday season.
