On Monday, the Niles City Council approved the transfer of the business’ existing Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption (IFT) through 2018, while also approving a new 12-year IFT with a project amount of $1.01 million.

The building has been in a 16,000-square-foot building at 800 Carberry Rd. and will be moving to an 80,000-square-foot facility. The company currently employs 42 workers and plans to create 20 new jobs within the next two years.

Dial-A-Ride shelters to be built

Also Monday night, the city council accepted a bid of $10,146 from Duo-Gard Industries in Canton, Mich. to build two Niles Dial-A-Ride passenger bus shelters. Each shelter will be 5-by-10 feet long and are designed to protect passengers from inclement weather while waiting for transportation.

One will be located at the Greater Niles Senior Center and the other at Murdock Used Cars in Niles Township.
