The Niles girls’ basketball team set a new school record Tuesday night with 10 3-pointers in its 71-54 Big 16 Conference non-divisional victory over Sturgis.

The Vikings’ Maureen Craig had four of those triples, while Alexis McIntee also had four and Nichole Sly had a pair. The previous record was nine, which was set against St. Joseph on Feb. 27, 2009.

Niles (2-1) will be back in action Friday night as it hosts Mattawan in its first West Division match-up. The contest is slated to begin at 5:45 and is part of a doubleheader with the Niles boys’ basketball team. That game will begin at 7:15 p.m.
