CASSOPOLIS — Laurence F. Swank Sr., 68, of Cassopolis, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac. Kathleen G. (Hankins) Swank, 62, of Cassopolis, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac. Larry was born on Dec. 17, 1941, in Volinia to Claude and Lenore (Sherwood) Swank.

He was a self-employed tractor mechanic and a member of the Two-Cylinder Club. Kathy was born on Nov. 4, 1948, in Dowagiac, to Edward and Grace (Boerman) Hankins Sr. She was a home health care aide and a homemaker. Larry and Kathy married in Dowagiac in January 1971.

They are survived by one son, Laurence “Fred” Swank Jr. of Cassopolis.

In addition to their son, Larry is survived by: two daughters, Marsha and Lisa; one sister, Aleyne Parsons of Cassopolis; and two brothers, Ronald Swank of South Carolina and Richard (Patricia) Swank of Sherwood.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Eleanor Klapchuk; and two brothers, Gordon Gleason and Leo Swank.

In addition to their son, Kathy is survived by: her father, Edward Hankins Sr. of Cassopolis; five sisters, Carol (Neil) Pence of Cassopolis, Diane (Roland) Jackson of Niles, Sue (Rick) Johnson of Elkhart, Ind., Mary (Robert) Wilds of Niles, and Julie (David Wall) Hankins of Middlebury, Ind.; and one brother, Duane Hankins of Cassopolis. She was preceded in death by: her mother; one sister, Patti Spooner; and one brother, Edward Hankins Jr.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, Dec. 9, at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals from noon until time of service at 2 p.m.

The Rev. John Kasper of First United Methodist Church, Dowagiac, will officiate.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
