Wisconsin’s Leuer named Big Ten Player of the Week

PARK RIDGE, Ill. — Wisconsin’s Jon Leuer was named Big Ten Men’s Basketball Player of the Week as he averaged 25.5 points per game and 10 rebounds in a pair of victories.

Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger was named Freshman of the Week.

Wisconsin’s Jon Leuer earns his first Player of the Week award this season after averaging 25.5 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two assists per game in wins over NC State and South Dakota last week. The senior recorded his fifth career double-double against the Wolfpack with 22 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. He followed that performance with a career-high 29 points, including six three-pointers, nine boards, two assists and four blocks against the Coyotes. The Orono, Minn., native has scored 20 points or more in four of his eight games this season. Leuer’s award marks the second in his career and the first for the Badgers this season.

Freshman of the Week

Columbus, Ohio – Northland

Jared Sullinger collects his third Freshman of the Week award after recording a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds at Florida State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. He also added one block and a steal in the 58-44 Buckeye win.

The freshman from Columbus, Ohio, leads the Buckeyes with 34 field goals, 19 free throws and 56 rebounds. He is one point off the team scoring lead with 87 points and is second on the squad with eight steals.
