Published 7:53 pm Thursday, December 2, 2010
On the morning of Nov. 27, 2010, the world lost a beautiful angel with a great big heart of gold. Tracy L. Moran, 42, was found to have unexpectedly passed away during the night by her loving husband, best friend and soulmate of 25 years, Phillip.
Tracy was born Dec. 9, 1967 in Adrian, Mich. to Robert Opdyke, now living in Clearwater, Fla., and Beverly Gwilt, now living in Elkhart, Ind. Tracy eventually moved to Elkhart, where she met and fell in love with Phillip K. Moran II, whom she married April 22, 1989 in Edwardsburg.
Tracy was always the first one to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. Though Tracy loved her family and friends, she had a special place in her life for her little dog, Rags, who is still confused and wondering why Mommy isn’t coming home.
Tracy worked for the RV industry her whole adult life, most recently at Forest River Glaval for the past four years. Her friends and co-workers sadly miss her. She was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the DAV in Elkhart, where memorials may be given to DAV, Post 19.
Those left behind solemnly urge everyone who feels persistent muscle aches or pains, especially in the chest, please, please have your arteries checked. Age or medical history are not always factors.
We will miss you, Tracy.
Her husband survives, along with their only son, Dustin Michael Moran. Tracy cherished and loved Dustin, whom she called “Duke,” with all her heart. She was so proud when Duke recently graduated from high school. Unfortunately, she only got to enjoy her empty nest for a very few short months before her untimely passing.
She is also survived by her three stepchildren, James (Christine) Moran of Vandalia, Kassie Benson of Niles and Amy (Brian) McDonnell of Edwardsburg; and nine beautiful grandchildren. Tracy loved each and every one of her children unconditionally.
Also surviving are sisters, Wendy and Kimberly Opdyke of Elkhart; and brothers, David Pelmear of Edwardsburg, Christopher Pelmear of Gold Hill, N.C.; brother-in-law, Patrick Moran of Ekhart; sisters-in-law, Lori Sue Moran of Elkhart and Jodi Moran of Edwardsburg. Also, numerous nieces and nephews and too many friends too count. Tracy’s very dear and close friend, Cindy (Tom) Hines of Elkhart, will forever be trying to fill the void left behind by her absence. They were virtually inseparable.
Friends and family may gather today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Rd., Edwardsburg.
The service will be Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery.
Arrangements by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg. For information, call (269) 663-5345.
