Fern E. Kirk, 92, of Niles, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at West Woods of Niles of natural causes.

She was born Feb. 27, 1918 in Niles. She was a lifetime area resident.

Fern was a folder at Simplicity Pattern Co. for more than 20 years. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Niles.

She married Norman G. Kirk on April 24, 1937 in South Bend. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1995.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Addie Bothwell; a son, Ken Norman Kirk, on Nov. 26, 2009; one brother; and two sisters.

Fern is survived by a son, Larry Lee (Sonja) Kirk of Galien; a daughter, Patricia A. (Tom) Hollis of Niles; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan with Pastor Mike Smith of Hope Community Church in Niles officiating.

Burial will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
