The Michigan High School Athletic Association will crown eight new state champions this weekend at Ford Field in Detroit.

Four champions will be crowned Friday with the final four championships to be added on Saturday.

Today, the Division 8, 2, 6 and 4 championships will be decided at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively.

Saturday’s champions will come from Division 7, 1, 5 and 3 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. respectively.

Division 1

Plymouth (11-2) will face Lake Orion (12-1) in the Division 1 title game.

Plymouth reached the championship with wins over Saline (27-7), Canton (17-7), Detroit Catholic Central (9-7) and Rockford (21-17).

Lake Orion (12-1) made it to the finals with victories over Davison (42-7), Grand Blanc (54-14), Utica Eisenhower (17-10) and Detroit Cass Tech (24-21).

Orion was the state runner-up in 2008.

Division 2

Lowell (11-2) will take on Farmington Hills Harrison (13-0) for the Division 2 title.

Lowell advanced to the finals with wins over Grand Ledge (35-24), Portage Central (49-16), Muskegon (33-28) Walled Lake Central (35-21). Lowell won state championships in 2002 and last year in Division 2, while it won the 2004 title in Division 3.

Perennial power Farmington Hills Harrison advanced to the championship game with wins over Birmingham Brother Rice (37-27), Berkley (28-13), Warren DeLaSalle (33-23) and Grosse Pointe South (51-0). Farmington won state championships in Division 3 in 1999-2001 and were state runners-up in 2006.

Division 3

Four-time defending state champion East Grand Rapids (13-0) will face another state power in Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (11-2) in the Division 3 title tilt.

East Grand Rapids defeated Byron Center (45-29), Grand Rapids Christian (49-48), Zeeland East (17-13) and Mt. Pleasant (31-16) to reach Ford Field. They were also state champions in 2002 and 2003.

Orchard Lake advanced to the finals with wins over Lapeer East (54-13), Auburn Hills Avondale (71-44), Redford Thurston (45-7) and DeWitt (41-20). St. Mary’s was the state runner-up in 2009 and 2007 to East Grand Rapids and state champions in 1999 and 2000 in Division 4. Orchard Lake also was state runner-up in 2001 in Division 4.

Division 4

Grand Rapids Catholic Central (11-2), which defeated Edwardsburg in last Saturday’s Division 4 semifinals, will face Williamston (12-1) in the title game.

Besides their win over Edwardsburg, the Cougars also defeated Spring Lake (45-34),  Zeeland West (50-42) and Comstock Park (45-28).

Williamston advanced to the title game with wins over Lansing Catholic Central (58-24), Goodrich (20-0), Marine City 30-20) and Detroit Crockett (33-13).

Division 5

Grand Rapids West Catholic (12-1) will face Olivet (11-2) in the Division 5 finals.

West Catholic made it to Detroit by defeating Wyoming Kelloggsville (54-14), Portland (38-13), Muskegon Oakridge (45-14) and Menominee (24-20).

Olivet defeated Buchanan in the opening round of the playoffs 38-28, before defeating Hopkins (13-6), Father Gabriel Richard (21-18) and Millington (21-14).

Division 6

Ithaca (13-0) will take on Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central (12-1) for the Division 6 championship.

Ithaca advanced to the finals with wins over Laingsburg (35-14), St. Charles (26-14), Montrose (28-6) and Iron Mountain (27-13).

St. Mary Catholic Central made it to the title game with wins over Dundee (62-14), Ecorse (41-12), Grass Lake (48-14) and Constantine (22-14). St. Mary CC was the state runner-up in 2005 and 2008.

Division 7

Ishpeming (12-0) will face Hudson (13-0) for the Division 7 crown.

Ishpeming advanced to the finals with wins over Ironwood (53-21), Mancelona (38-6), McBain (51-22) and Ravenna (22-20).

Hudson reached the title game with wins over Reading (27-0), Petersburg-Summerfield (42-), Mendon, which knocked Cassopolis out of the playoffs, (21-7) and Warren Michigan Collegiate (52-6). Hudson, which once owned the nation’s longest consecutive winning streak, was state runners-up in 2009 and 2003.

Division 8

Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart (12-1) will take on Saugatuck (10-3) in the Division 8 championship game.

Sacred Heart reached Ford Field by defeating Frankfort (41-0), Beal City (37-0), Mio Ausable (56-14) and perennial state champion Crystal Falls Forest Park 27-16.

Saugatuck advanced to the finals with wins over Lake Michigan Catholic (54-24), Climax-Scotts (35-14), North Adams Jerome (34-15) and Fulton 20-14 in overtime.
