CASSOPOLIS — A 20-year-old Elkhart resident also received a prison sentence Friday in Cass County Circuit Court.
Phillip Brown was given 23 months to 10 years for breaking and entering and attempted home invasion.
The offense occurred Sept. 27 when Brown, armed with a rifle, broke into an Edwardsburg home’s pole barn.
The family was awakened when Brown broke a basement window. When police arrived, Brown fled but was found in a woods near the property.
“It was bad night,” Brown said.
Brown has two juvenile felony convictions for theft and burglary on his record.
Cassopolis man headed to prison
CASSOPOLIS — Aaron Mihm, a 20-year-old Cassopolis resident, is heading to prison for his third unlawfully driving away an automobile offense.
Cass County Judge Michael Dodge sentenced Mihm Friday to two to 7.5 years with credit for 44 days already served. He was also ordered to pay $1,245 in restitution for damage to the vehicle.
Dodge said the “repetitive nature” of the offenses earned Mihm the prison sentence.
