Niles tops Lakeshore

The Niles Ring Lardner eighth grade boys’ basketball team overwhelmed host Lakeshore with its pressure defense.

The Vikings held the Lancers without a basket until over a minute into the second quarter and led 37-11 after three quarters on its way to a 39-19 victory.

Rayquon Glenn was relentless pressuring the ball and Dalton Raymond and Sean Craig were active in the passing lanes all night.

Trey Kyles sparked the Vikings offensively with a quick four points and finished the game with a team-high 10.  Raymond contributed seven points, while the rest of the scoring was spread out amongst Glenn, Craig, Alex Hardy, Gabe Stokes, David Kennedy, Michael Martin and Sam Rodts.

Niles will return to action on Monday at St. Joe beginning at approximately 6 p.m..

“With continued defensive ball pressure and improved shot selection this team has a chance to really do good things this year.”

Seventh grade

The seventh grade Ring Lardner boys’ basketball team fell to Lakeshore 32-34 Wednesday night in Stevensville.

Joe Avance led all scorers with 16 points. Tim McCaffrey played solid defense with three steals. Joshua Buckingham led the team with five rebounds.

Ben Evans contributed with four points.
