Helen M. Finlay, 88, of Beeson Road in Niles, died at 11:05 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at Rivercrest Specialty Hospital in Mishawaka, Ind. following a brief illness.

Mrs. Finlay was born Jan. 7, 1922 in Steelton, Pa. to Michael J. and Mary (Egersitz) Pilsitz. She graduated from Riley High School in South Bend and lived in Niles since 1952.

She was previously employed at Frankies and the Pickwick Club in Niles and the Morris Inn at the University of Notre Dame. She also assisted her husband at John Finlay Advertising Co.

She was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles. She loved caring for her family.

On March 4, 1944 at Selman Air Force Base in Louisiana, she married John Finlay, who preceded her in death Aug. 22, 2004. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Finlay is survived by their son, John J. (Kay) Finlay of Culver, Ind.; daughters, Susan K. (Alfred “Bud”) Dolan of Grand Rapids, Mich., Lisa A. Montgomery of Osceola, Ind., Christine (Jim) Reilly of South Bend, Janet J. (John “Jack”) Kenny of Elkhart, Ind. and Mary (Doug) Finlay-Sims-Tillotson of Mishawaka; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosilyn Smith of Woodbury, N.J.

Visitation, services and interment are pending and will be announced at a later date by Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.

Contributions in memory of Helen may be made to the renovation fund at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles.
