Gary L. Brekke, 63, of M-51 North, Niles, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at home suddenly but of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 26, 1947 in Watertown, S.D. to Siguard William Brekke and Eva Joyce (Rosekranz) Brekke. He lived in Niles since moving from South Dakota in 1969.
He owned and operated Gary’s Furniture Restoration in Niles. He was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cassopolis. He graduated form Hayti High School in Hayti, S.D. and later from Northern State College (now Northern State University) in Aberdeen, S.D.
He married Margaret “Peggy” (Zinter) Brekke on Dec. 28, 1968 in Aberdeen; she survives.
He is also survived by his sons, Aaron Brekke of Niles and Christopher (Kristen) Brekke of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Corrine, Lucas and Aaron, Jr.; brother, Clifford Brekke of Mitchell, S.D.; Dianne Kannas of South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Siguard and Eva Brekke, and a sister, Marlys Brekke.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cassopolis with Pastor Paul Doellinger of the church officiating.
Friends may call beginning at 1 p.m. Friday at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cassopolis.
Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
