Arthur Mickey “Art” Fierce, 80, of Elkhart, Ind., died Tuesday morning, Nov. 9, 2010 at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Nov. 20, 1929 in LaPorte City, Iowa to the late Arthur L. and Ida (Mickey) Fierce.

On Feb. 11, 1956, in Waterloo, Iowa, he married Barbara B. Boysen, who survives along with a daughter, Leslie A. Fierce of Indiana, and his son, James M. Fierce of Los Angeles.

Art was the audit manager at the Bayer Corp., retiring in 1992. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and his master of business administration from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. It was while attending U of M that he met and later married Barbara; they shared 54 years together.

Art was an avid golfer and a member of the Elkhart Elks Club No. 425 and Christiana Creek Country Club. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

In keeping with Art’s wishes, private family time was held and cremation will take place; burial will be at Mission Hills Memorial Park in Niles.
