Niles F.C. soccer club holding tryouts Nov. 13

The Niles F.C. soccer club is holding its spring 2011 tryouts for new players and evaluation for returning players.

The club wishes to invite all interested players from the lower southwest corner of Michigan to be a part of this exciting experience and to be part of a competitive team that encourages teamwork, growth as a player and the opportunity to compete against higher level competition.

Each season, teams will play eight games: approximately four at home and four away. Each player is responsible for his or her own transportation. The club is looking at age 10 through 18 as of July 31.

There will be a registration and tryouts on Nov. 13 at Ballard Elementary School, 1601 Chicago Rd., Niles.

Here is the schedule:

• Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. for the girls’ 10- to12-year-olds and boys’ 10- to 14 -year-olds.

• Noon tryouts/evaluation will begin.

• Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. registration for the boys’ 15- to 18-year-olds.

• 1 p.m. tryouts/evaluation will begin.

There is a $35 registration fee. You will also need to bring a copy of a certified birth certificate and a 1-by-1 inch photo of the player’s face. West Michigan Youth Soccer Association makes players IDs. These are used by the referee to verify team players. These are due at the time of tryouts. If a prospective player is not selected to a team, the fee will be refunded.

The total cost for the single season is $135. This includes registration, insurance, referee fees and uniforms. Former Niles F.C. players and area school athletes and members of their families will receive a $35 discount.
