Jeff Richner

Jeff Richner, of Ullery Road in Niles, died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at the home of his parents in Cassopolis following an extended illness.

He was born in South Bend, attended Niles Community Schools and graduated from Elkhart (Ind.) Memorial High School. He lived in this area all of his life. He owned and operated Richner’s HydroPrue Water Conditioning.

Jeff was always active in 4-H programs and equestrian activities. In his youth, he was a member of the Jones Rough Riders 4-H Club, and then served as an adult volunteer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest joy was helping youth be successful in the horse arena. He has coached many, including his daughters, to high awards and recognition.

Surviving family includes his daughters, Stephaney Richner of Orlando, Fla. and Jennifer Richner of Overland Park, Kan.; his mother, Barbara “Barbie” (Mike) Davis of Cassopolis; and sisters, Christine Lahr and Kathryn Marin, both of South Bend, and Pamela Hulecki of Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Richner, in 1982.

The funeral service for Jeff Richner will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Jonathan Rose, chaplain of Hospice at Home, officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday.
