Republicans swept the highest-ranking offices in Michigan Tuesday, with former Gateway Computers CEO Rick Snyder crushing Democrat Virg Bernero, Lansing mayor, with about 66 perecent of votes at press time.

In the Congress 6th District, St. Joseph’s Fred Upton, who has held the seat since 1987, bested Kalamazoo Democrat Don Cooney with about 61 percent of votes at press time.

The Secretary of State seat went to Ruth Johnson over Jocelyn Michelle Benson, and Bill Schuette ousted David Leyton for attorney general.
