A three-month investigation into three home invasions in Niles Township ended with a multiple count felony warrant for a Elkhart County man.

Keith Ball, 23, is charged with two county felony warrant home invasion 1st and weapon charges and possession of a stolen firearm.

On July 26, The Berrien County Sheriff’s office (Niles Township Patrol) investigated home invasions that occurred in the early hours. In two of the invasions, the owners/victims were sleeping when their residences were entered. These residences were located off South 15th and Madison streets in Niles Township.

Sheriff’s deputies processed all crime scenes, obtaining forensic evidence. From the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, one suspect was identified from fingerprints.

Sheriff’s investigators working with the Elkhart County Sheriff Detectives and Cass County Sheriff Detectives already had knowledge that the suspect was already lodged at the Elkhart County Jail.

Ball admitted to breaking into various residences in the Niles Township area. He had knowledge that the home owners were present when he broke into them.

Items stolen include various types of weapons, electronics and purses.

Ball is currently incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail on burglary charges from Indiana.

Assisting into this investigation were the Elkhart County sheriff’s detectives and the Cass County sheriff’s detectives.

This investigation is still continuing into other residential burglaries in the Niles Township and Bertrand Township areas over the summer.
