Pedestrian accident downtown

A pedestrian attempting to cross Main Street near The Nuggett in downtown Niles was struck by a vehicle late Friday morning. According to Niles Police Department supervisor Scott Glick, the unidentified victim, who is in his 50s, sustained minor injuries but was transported to the hospital.

The driver was on the scene and will be issued a citation, Glick said. The Michigan State Police, Niles Fire Department and Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
