MARCELLUS — Jack W. Jacobs, 87, of 458 E. Main St., Marcellus, passed away Monday morning, Oct. 18, 2010, at Bronson Lakeview Community Hospital, Paw Paw, following a long illness.

He was born May 19, 1923, in Three Rivers, son of Wilbur and Bertha (Dimick) Jacobs.

On Dec. 8, 1945, in Kalamazoo, he married Lillian M. Freeland. His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 1995.

Jack was a Marcellus area resident for most of his life.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was employed at Goerlich Muffler Co. in Dowagiac as a supervisor and later at Fab-Master Co. in Marcellus.

He was also a life member of American Legion Post 39 and the Volinia Marcellus Lodge 227, F&AM. He enjoyed horses.

Surviving are: nieces and nephews, including: Ann (Loren) Carlson of Kalamazoo; Rhonda (Ken) Brown of Bahama, N.C., Mike (Judy) Jacobs of Portage, Brad Jacobs of Marcellus, Randy (Sharon) Jacobs of Three Rivers and Frank (Beverly) Freeland of Scotts.

One brother, Cameron Jacobs, preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in Marcellus Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Maddox of Light and Life Wesleyan Church in Three Rivers officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus.
