Cooney focused on access

Dear editor:

My hope in writing this letter is to express to your readers the sincere and genuine support I have for 6th District Congress candidate, Don Cooney.

I’ve known Don for 20 years and been married to him for almost 18. Your readers will not find a more capable and hard-working candidate than Don. As well as his history as a community organizer, Don’s qualifications include 34 years as an associate professor of social work at Western Michigan University and he has held seven two-year terms as a Kalamazoo city commissioner. Don co-founded the Poverty Reduction Initiative in 1994 and he founded Kalamazoo Community in Schools with fellow commissioner Ed Gordon.

I’ve often been asked, “How does Don do it?” He has more energy than most 20-year-olds I know. Don is dedicated and knowledgeable about the issues we face today. Don’s energy comes from his desire to help people attain a high quality of life, and he is committed to working toward creating access to the opportunities people need to lead a decent human life. Don’s integrity, intellect and drive make him the perfect candidate for 6th District Congress. In Congress, Don will work hard for the people of this district.

Sincerely,

Kathy Cooney
