Democrats want a seat at the table and continued safety net

To the editor:

As a senior I appreciate Social Security and Medicare.

I need them, and I make no apology for that.

Republicans have said time and time again that they want to eliminate programs like these, along with many others that offer a “safety net” to so many in our society — programs like unemployment, Medicaid, food stamps, minimum wage and public education.

Republicans think the wealthy should run the country, and the rest of us can catch the crumbs as they “trickle down” from their table.

Well, I for one want a seat at the table, and Democratic policies offer that to all of us.

Keep our “safety net.”

Vote Democrat on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
