DONALDSON, Ind. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently released their 2010 Academic Scholar-Athlete Team, which included Ancilla College softball players Trina Bauer and Demi Schrader.

Bauer and Schrader, both freshmen last year, were just the eleventh and twelfth student-athletes to be honored in this manner in the ten years the softball program has been in existence.

The Lady Charger softball team was also honored for their 2.963 GPA with a ranking of 31st in the nation.

“I’m very proud of the individual accomplishments of both Trina and Demi as well as the final team GPA and ranking,” began Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “We set high academic standards for all of our student-athletes here at Ancilla and our softball team works hard to exceed expectations in the classroom at all times. Although the success in the classroom and high graduation rate is what is most important, it’s always nice to be recognized for that hard work.”

Ancilla’s softball team also finished the 2009-2010 school year with the largest graduating class of any sport in school history, with eight student-athletes receiving their Associates degrees.
