Edwardsburg’s Clark wins Dowagiac Rock-N-Run

Josh Clark of Edwardsburg and Morgan Stuut of Three Rivers are no strangers to the Rock-N-Run course at the Dowagiac Middle School.

The two of them made themselves at home by winning their respective races Thursday afternoon.

Clark ran a 16:01 to easily defeat runner-up Stuart Crowell of Parchment, who finished with a 16:18 in the boys’ race.

St. Joseph captured the team title with 41 points, while Bridgman was second with 57 and Lakeshore third with 108. Edwardsburg finished sixth with 163 points, Niles ninth with 243 points and Dowagiac 10th with 279 points.

Rounding out the top five finishers were Cameron and Conner Magro of Bridgman with times of 16:26 and 16:38 respectively and Ryan Leahy of St. Joseph with a time of 16:42.

Dowagiac’s Chris Gantt finished sixth overall with a time of 16:51, while Niles’ Sam VandenHeede was ninth with a time of 16:59.

Stuut was the class of the girls’ field as well, winning by nearly a full second over Bridgette Carpenter of Niles. Stuut completed the course in 19:20, while Carpenter finished with a 20:13.

Rounding out the top five were Alica Schitendort of Three Rivers (20:13), Kate Thayer of Parchment (20:13) and Marley Guy of Three Rivers (20:27).

The Wildcats took the team title with 50 points, while St. Joseph was second with 62 and Parchment third with 88.

Niles finished fifth with 152 points, Buchanan eight with 216 points, Edwardsburg 12th with 294 points and Dowagiac 13th with 339 points.
