The Chieftains varsity volleyball team dropped three straight sets to the visiting Shamrocks of Berrien Springs in a non-conference contest on Monday evening.

After dropping the first set 25-14, the Chieftains regrouped and gave Berrien Springs all they could handle in the second set, dropping a close one 25-22.

“I was impressed with Rylie (Cox) tonight. I thought she came into that second game and had some nice digs and served the ball well, which really kept us in the game,” said Dowagiac coach Bill Anderson.

The third set was all Berrien Springs, as they won easily, 25-15.

“We played better tonight against them (Berrien) than we did the first time we played them”, Anderson continued. “But we just couldn’t get into a rhythm”.

Dowagiac drops to 4-17 on the season and will play Otsego on Thursday.
