Niles 10th at Division 3 golf tournament

AUGUSTA — The Big 16 Conference took the first three places at the Division 3 Golf Regional on Thursday at Stonehenge North.

Marshall was the team champion after shooting a 372, while Coldwater was second with a 381 and St. Joseph third with a 382.

All three teams advance to the state finals. The top three teams move on to the state meet.

The Wolverine Conference took the next four spots with Vicksburg (390), Plainwell (399), Gull Lake (403) and Otsego (413) finishing fourth through seventh respectively.

Niles placed 10th with a team total of 442. No individual results were available.

Division 4 regional

KALAMAZOO — The MHSAA Division 4 Regional Golf Tournament was dominated by parochial schools Thursday afternoon at Milham Park Golf Course.

The top five schools were non-public institutions, while the top 10 golfers were all from parochial schools.

Lansing Catholic Central captured the regional championship after shooting 318. Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Central was second with a 367, while Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian was third with a 393.

The top three schools advance to the state tournament.

Lansing Catholic Central’s Jaqueline Setas was the medalist on Thursday after firing a 75.

Dowagiac finished 12th with a team total of 468.

Haley Smith led the Chieftains with a 107, while Maggie Cripe shot 111 and Lauren Smith 122. Kaye Swartz finished with a 128.
