Lester “Stormy” Forbes, 61, of Allerton Drive, Niles, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010 at 10:10 a.m. at his home following a brief illness.

Mr. Forbes was born Sept. 27, 1949 in Niles to Lester H. and Leona E. (Buccholz) Forbes. He was a lifetime resident of Niles.

He was a former employee of K-Express in Schaumburg, Ill. Stormy was also a welder, weld inspector and very artistic carpenter. He loved woodworking, gardening, the outdoors, nature, reading and riding his four-wheeler. He was loved and will be dearly missed.

On Sept. 27, 1969 in Niles, he married the former Karin E. Simpson, who survives. Other surviving family include their children, Leslie E. Forbes Heibel of Silverdale, Wash., Kristen “Kym” Forbes and Travis Sean Forbes, both of Niles, and Terra M. Forbes of Chicago; eight grandchildren; sisters, Jennifer Burrows and Janice Davis, both of Niles, Jackie Robbins of Somerset, Mass. and Jeri Randolph of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Lester “Stormy” Forbes will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at First Church of God in Niles with the Rev. Robert E. Jackson of the church officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives beginning one hour prior to services at the church.

Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
