It was the final tune-up for the Dowagiac tennis team Tuesday afternoon prior to Thursday’s regional competition.

Niles will have one more test before jumping into regional competition as it heads to Three Rivers for another non-conference match today.

The Chieftains and the Vikings had to settle for a 4-4 draw as Dowagiac won all four singles flights and Niles took the four doubles flights.

The match lasted only about an hour as every flight was decided in straight sets.

On the singles side, Dowagiac’s Chris Craft defeated Jared Langmeyer 6-1 and 6-2; Michael McClenahan defeated Brad Miller 6-0 and 6-1; Amarpal Sarao defeated Nick Zeigert 6-1 and 6-4; while Aaron Blaske defeated Jon Stickney 6-1 and 6-2.

In doubles matches, Alec Brown and Taylor Farmer of Niles defeated Dylan Chorba and Jon Robinson 6-3 and 6-0; Geventa Nichols and Brent McGowan defeated Marc Tyrakowski and Ben Thompson 7-5 and 6-2; Kody Jankoviak and Matt Miller defeated Jennings Brosnan and Christian Hess 6-1 and 6-1; while Matt Dodge and Connor Glick defeated Julian Marshall and John Brosnan 6-0 and 6-1.

Dowagiac will now set its sights on the Division 4 regional tournament on Thursday at Leeper Park in South Bend, Ind.
