OTSEGO — Chris Gantt of Dowagiac earned a medal at the Otsego Invitational on Saturday with his fifth place finish in the Gold Division.

The Chieftains did not have enough runners to field a team for the event, however.

Delton-Kellogg won with 54 points, while Marshall was second with 60.

Joey Wheatley of Marshall was the overall winner with a time of 17:05. Gantt finished 19 seconds behind Wheatley with his team of 17:24.

Ryan Wilming was 45th (19:51) and Jason Turner 51st (20:12).

“Chris Gantt had another strong race for us,” Dowagiac coach Ken Jordan said. “We added the meet to our schedule on Wednesday, knowing we would be short-handed. It was still a great experience for our kids as nine of them ran their best teams of the season.”

Kenney Gibbons was 56th in the JV race with a time of 28:44.

Marshall and Delton-Kellogg flipped positions in the girls’ race.

Marshall was the champion with 43 points and Delton-Kellogg was second with 63. Parchment was third with 74 points and Dowagiac took seventh with 187.

Holly Luth led Dowagiac with a 34th place finish and a time of 25:18. Kendra Wilson was 36th (25:451), Kayla Yakim 38th (26:20), Amber Eblin 39th (27:44), Alexa Batty 40th (27:44) and Rebecca Luth 41st (27:50).

Corinne Kasper finished 25th in the JV race with a time of 30:11.
