Chieftains fall to Bridgman

BRIDGMAN — Visiting Dowagiac was defeated by Lakeland Conference regular season champion Bridgman on Tuesday 6-2 in a non-conference tennis match.

The Chieftains picked up a pair of wins in singles competition.

Michael McClenahan defeated Logan Pitts 6-1 and 6-3, while Aaron Blaske defeated Brad Montayne 6-0 and 6-0.

Paw Paw jamboree

PAW PAW — The Dowagiac golf team did not have enough golfers to post a team score on Monday at the Wolverine Conference Jamboree hosted by Paw Paw at Lake Cora.

Plainwell won the jamboree with a score of 172, while Allegan was second with 184.

Vicksburg and Otsego both shot 190 with Three Rivers shooting 198, Comstock 198, Gull Lake 207, Paw Paw 209 and South Haven 230.

Dowagiac, who was missing three golfers due to illness and a death in the family.

Otsego’s Brittany Haight was the medalist after shooting even par 35.

Dowagiac was led by Kaye Swartz’s 58. Jessica Caldwell shot 65 and Rikki Baker 69.
