School district needs bus drivers

Dowagiac Union Schools needs more bus drivers, according to Superintendent Dr. Mark Daniel.
Daniel said during the break between school board meetings Monday night, “Right now, we’ve actually had to cancel some extra-curricular events” due to a dearth of drivers.
“Parents were helping drive, students were using the minivans. It’s tough,” he said. So is the “intensive training.”
Daniel rode a route the first day.
“That bus driver is important — the first person they see in the morning,” who can set the tone for the whole day.
