VICKSBURG — Visiting Dowagiac was swept by host Vicksburg 3-0 in a Wolverine Conference match Thursday night.
The Chieftains got better with each game, but fell to the Bulldogs 25-17, 25-19 and 26-24.
“We’re starting to get it,” Dowagiac coach Bill Anderson said. “We are getting better. I can see we are getting better. My issue is getting the team to believe they are getting better and we need to have some one step up and be a leader.”
Dowagiac was led in kills by Kaisha Martin, who finished with 13.
Carly Polomcak had nine kills and Kelsie Primley seven kills.
Hope Daniel finished the night with four kills and 10 digs, while Devin Ownby had nine digs.
Katie Lorenz recorded 23 assists.
Anderson singled out the effort of Jessica Holmes.
“What I haven’t been seeing is the bench players playing well,” he said. “Jessica came off the bench and set well. She came in and did a really, really good job tonight for us.
Dowagiac will travel to Niles on Monday night for a non-conference match.
