NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Freshman T.J. Jones is quickly becoming a favorite target of Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist.

After catching two passes for 36 yards in the first half, Jones hauls in a 5-yard scoring strike from Crist to give the Fighting Irish a 20-3 lead with 10:20 to play in the third quarter.

  • The Fighting Irish defense continues to harass Purdue quarterback Robert Marve. Nothing at this point is really working for the Boilermakers offensively. The running game and the passing game have been pretty must stuffed by the Notre Dame 3-4 defense.
  • After not recording a sack in the first half, Notre Dame opened up the third quarter with three of them for a loss of 30 yards.
  • Michael Floyd has had a quiet afternoon for the Fighting Irish. He caught just one ball for 19 yards in the first half. He caught was looked as if it was going to be another touchdown for the Fighting Irish, but the ball came loose and Purdue recovered inside the 5-yard line.
  • Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o has also had a quiet afternoon through the first three quarters. At the half he had just three tackles.
  • Gary Gray had a busy first half for the Fighting Irish with a game-high eight tackles, including one for a loss.
  • Notre Dame will take a 20-3 lead into the final quarter, but Purdue is knocking at the door with a fourth-and-one at the 5-yard line.
