William Warren, 61 / April 12, 1949 — Aug. 5, 2010

William Robert “Boxcar” Warren, 61, of North Front Street, Niles died at 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born April 12, 1959 in Memphis, Tenn. to William Joseph Warren and Johnnie (Freshour) Warren. He graduated from high school in Memphis and then entered military service. He worked for many years at Greenscape Services in Battle Creek, Mich.

He lived in Climax, Mich. for many years and came to Niles in 2008. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era, having served in the United States Army 101st Airborne. He was active in Vietnam organizations.

He enjoyed fishing and playing pool.

William is survived by his son, Merik (Erin) Warren, of Battle Creek, Mich.; granddaughter, Araya Joann Warren; and sister, Margaret Hughes.

Family and friends will gather for full military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mich.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.

Memorial contributions may be made to the veterans’ organization of the donor’s choice.
