As it turns out, Dowagiac graduate Torie Lowe will play one more high school softball game.
Lowe, who was a four-year standout for the Chieftains, may have saved her best for last and because of it, has earned the right to play in the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association All-Star Game on July 21.
The game will be played at Rannehy Park in East Lansing. The first of four games will begin at 10 a.m.
Lowe, who was a four-time All-Wolverine Conference selection and a Division 2 All-State pick this past season, helped lead Team Michigan to the Sports Fest championship last month.
“This is a nice way for Torie to end a stellar four-year varsity softball career,” Dowagiac coach Mike Behnke said. “All-state, Sports Fest champion, and now a chance to play in the Division 2 All-Star softball game. This couldn’t happen to a better person.”
She will now pair with a pair of former Lakeshore standouts to help the White team take on the Red squad in the Division 2 All-Star Game.
Joining Lowe will be Lancers Rachel Zwar and Lindsay McNair, who helped Lakeshore to the Division 2 state championship last month.
The White team will be coached by Todd Sellon of Coopersville.
Southwest Michigan will be well represented in the Division 4 contest as well as a trio of Decatur Raiders will play for the White team, which will be coached by Petersburg Summerfield’s Robert Taylor.
On the White roster from Decatur will be Kelsey Vliek, Genna Baushke and Danielle Moser.
