A 31-year-old is wanted for allegedly stabbing a man on Browntown Road Sunday morning.

Primo Mayor, of 3532 Browntown Rd., Weesaw Township, has been charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to an assault at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at 3532 Browntown Rd. Upon arriving, deputies found a 51-year-old man, Aldrews Malagon, of the residence, had suffered multiple stab wounds, and Mayo was the suspected perpetrator. Mayo fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

The victim was transported by Medic 1 Ambulance to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, where he was treated for his injuries and is currently listed in stable condition.

The cause for the assault is unknown but appears to be the result of a verbal argument that escalated.

Baroda Lake Township/Chikaming Township Police assisted at the scene.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Mayo is asked to contact the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office at (269) 983-7141 or Crimestoppers at (800) 342-STOP.
