Every day, the reporters at Leader Publications are out covering local news, sports, events and even more so lately – weather.
But when they’re not covering local news, they’re still hard at work discovering local businesses, getting to know the owners and the histories behind storefronts and recreational services from right here at home to the shores of Lake Michigan.
From surprising finds in neighboring towns to hidden gems and the powerful companies that choose to make the Niles area home, each one holds stories within a story: the story of the business and what it does for the community and the stories of those people who drive it to success.
At a time when so many are still recovering from a debilitating recession, searching for work wherever they can find it, highlighting and turning our attention to these businesses large and small doesn’t just educate us about our business community. They can inspire us to maybe start one of our own, explore new avenues that might create more jobs, or lend a helping hand to a struggling business owners in need.
These businesses are especially important to the growth and sustainability of our local economies and ultimately each other.
So … word on the street is the storms will spare Michiana for a couple of days, skies will be sunny, temps will be beautiful. It’s the perfect time to get out and go see what mouthwatering dishes, unique gifts and one of a kind finds these local businesses have to offer.
