Blood drive Wednesday

A Red Cross blood drive will be held in Dowagiac on Wednesday, June 30, from 11:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, 210 N. Front St.
Sponsors for this drive are the Knights of Columbus Council 2113 and the Masons of Peninsular Lodge 10.

Blood donations tend to slow down during the summer months, but the need for this lifesaving product does not.

In fact, it often increases due to accidents from greater travel and other summer activities.

Because of these circumstances, participation in blood drives during the summer becomes especially important for maintaining an adequate supply.

Blood donations can be made every 56 days by individuals over 17 years of age, weighing more than 110 pounds and in good health.

A unit of blood can save up to three lives.
