CASSOPOLIS – Barn Swallow Theatre will present Neil Simon’s award-winning play “Fools” on June 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20 at Edwardsburg Middle School in the school complex, 69014  Section St.

The play takes place in an idyllic Russian hamlet where the townspeople are cursed with chronic stupidity and have been for 200 years.

Young Leon Tolchinsky has landed a terrific teaching job there, however it’s not easy. When he arrives he finds townspeople sweeping dust from their stoops back into their houses and milkmaids milking their cows upside down to get more cream. To make matters worse, he has fallen in love with Sophia, a stunningly beautiful girl who has also been cursed with stupidity.

Leon must break the curse within 24 hours or he, too, will be doomed to permanent stupidity.

The cast includes performers from Cassopolis, Edwardsburg, Dowagiac and Three Rivers and is directed by Alan Sawyer.
