Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital announced Tuesday it held a volunteer luncheon April 21 in honor of all those who generously donate their time and talents.

Mary Alice Giles, Barbara Jones, Marge Kirsch and Nancy McKay received special recognition for reaching the milestone of 500 hours of volunteer service. Their names now appear on a special plaque in the hospital’s main hallway.

“We thank our volunteers for their remarkable gifts of time, talent and energy,” said Joy Strand, administrator and chief operating officer, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.

“We are extremely proud of them for making our hospital and our community central to their lives.”

Sue McCormick, director of administrative services, added, “In 2009, our volunteers donated 4,424 hours of time to the hospital. The value of this time to our patients and our hospital is hard to overestimate.”
