To the editor:

A chapter of my life has ended, and I would like to take this opportunity to say what a privilege it was to be the Dowagiac Band Booster President.  I could not have accomplished all that I did without all the help from the Board that I have worked with.

The Band Boosters has a group of very dedicated parents that have given so generously of themselves.  I would also like to thank the many band parents who have been so dedicated to the band program.  If it has been working in the concession stand, loading and unloading band trailers or chaperoning, thank you for your help.  In addition, thank you to the parents who make sure every day there is food and water for Band Camp.

Also to the parents who make sure that all the uniforms fit the students. Many parents have also helped in all the other areas of band, working on patron letters, band calendars, spaghetti dinner and working with the color guard.  I also appreciate the parents that take the time to travel to the band competitions.

The students always perform much better when they have a huge cheering crowd.

Through my years of being president, I have made many great friends, and I’m sure that these friendships will endure for many years to come. I have had the wonderful experience of working with four extremely dedicated and talented band directors through my presidency.  The Band is extremely lucky to have a community and many businesses that have supported the band for so many years. Thank you for your dedication over the years.

I have to thank my husband for all his hours of dedication, help, and support that he has given me through the presidency.

In closing I would just like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone that has helped the band grow to where it is today.

I wish the future Band Boosters much luck in the years to come!!
