To the editor:

I would like to personally congratulate Coach Van Johnson and the Dowagiac Union High School varsity golf team on a great 2010 season and their recent District Championship win.

Most of the current Varsity and Junior Varsity players got their start participating in the Dowagiac Elks Junior Golf Program and we have watched these kids develop and improve each year to now be District Champions.

Over the years good golfers have come out of the Dowagiac Elks program,  the most recent being Dave Maxey, but this is the first time a total team has been so competitive with a different medalist winner each week.

These young men are not only an outstanding team but outstanding individuals of whom we should all be proud.

Congratulations again to Coach Van Johnson and his team of Chris Craft, Max Howe, Cody Fairleigh, Jordan Juday and Kyle Ward.
