One man is under arrest facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property after an incident Saturday night.
Three more are being investigated for their suspected role in the incident.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department reported that at approximately 7:58 p.m., deputies responded to a call of a shots fired at a vehicle.
The vehicle was traveling westbound on Niles-Buchanan Road approaching the 1900 block when a shot from a pellet gun broke out the front passenger window of the passing car.
Both occupants of the vehicle were not injured in the shooting that Sgt. Randy Miller described as “random.”
Investigators on scene determined the shot to have been fired from a home in the 1900 block of Niles-Buchanan Road.
There, deputies located four suspect individuals and recovered the weapon used in the incident.
Interviews of each subject involved resulted in the arrest of Jesse McCombs, 18, of Niles.
McCombs was lodged at the Berrien County Jail and investigators have submitted reports to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department for review of possible charges against the other three subjects found at the residence.
