Eddies win gold at State in Science Olympiad

Edwardsburg Middle School and High School Science Olympiad teams were two of 96 teams to compete Saturday, May 1 in the 2010 State Science Olympiad Tournament on the campus of Michigan State University. These academic teams prepared for six months and competed at the regional tournament. Both teams won first places to and earned a coveted invitation to attend the state tournament.
Two students won gold medals in an event called Road Scholar. This event involves interpretation of topography and state road maps. The two honorees were Nathan Shellhamer and Mike Hinegardner. They defeated 47 middle school teams in this event for a gold medal performance. Nathan and Mike have participated together in Road Scholar for the past two years, achieving fifth place medals at the state tournament last year.
These young people represent a team of dedication to excellence in science and worked tirelessly all year.
