Niles JV baseball team splits two doubleheaders

The Niles junior varsity baseball team split a doubleheader with visiting Edwardsburg Thursday night.

The Vikings won the first game 8-6, but dropped the nightcap 4-2.

Taylor Purucker picked up the victory in the opening game.

Tyler Parish was 2-for-2 with a homerun. Alex Grishaber also homered for the Vikings.

Alec Brown and Seth Purucker both picked up hits.

In the second game, Parish homered again, while Jake Brentlinger, Mitchell Dehn, Burandt and Shawn Dudka each had a hit for Niles.

Casey Burandt suffered the loss despite allowing just one earned run and striking out seven.
The Vikings split with host Sturgis Tuesday night.

The Vikings won the opening game 9-1, but dropped the second game 6-4.

Grishaber picked up the victory as he tossed a two-hitter in the opener.

Parish was 2-for-4, while Prescott Smith, Grishaber and Dallas Munger also had hits.

In the second game, Parish was 3-for-3. Seth Purucker, Matt Dodge, Munger and Mitchell Dehn all had hits.

Dehn took the loss.
