Brandywine graduate Crider completes Ironman

Former Brandywine athlete Scott Crider recently competed in and completed the Ironman Triathlon.

Crider, a 1990 Brandywine graduate, who competed in cross country and was a state qualifier in wrestling, ran the Ironman on May 1.

He completed the grueling test of endurance in 14: 33.09.

He also had competed at St. George, Utah.

Crider swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles and then ran 26.2 (full marathon) and finished 1,055. There were more than 2,000 competitors.

The professionals who competed in the Ironman said it was the toughest course they had ever run.

Crider, who attended Brigham Young University-Idaho and Baker College, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy in 2001.

He served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 19.
He now resides in Price, Utah with his wife Nichol and their four sons.

Crider, who also wrestled at BYU-Idaho, now coaches over 100 freestyle wrestlers in Price.
