To the editor:

I was told today that two gentlemen were overheard talking about my letter that was printed on Monday.

It seems that these two gentlemen seem to think that I am either an idiot, my kids must not be athletically blessed or that my kids must be getting into trouble with the law all the time.
Well, I can promise you two gentlemen that: 1. I am not an idiot; 2. my kids have NEVER been in trouble with the law; and 3. not all kids are “into” sports.

My challenge to you two gentlemen is this.

Name all the professional athletes who have ever made it from Dowagiac.

For every one you name I can probably name five individuals who ended up for one reason or another serving prison time or ending up pregnant at an early age.

So maybe you guys would like to go on living the dream that this town is an athlete factory, but I am tired of living the reality of this town being an inmate or teen mother factory.
So maybe I am not the idiot in this story.
