New firetruck arriving this fall

Several months ago, City Council approved the purchase of a new fire truck for a little over $400,000.

This truck will be a pumper/rescue vehicle and it will replace two vehicles in Dowagiac’s current fleet.

The goal of this is to reduce costs and provide a faster response time with one person being able to bring more emergency equipment to a scene, City Manager Kevin Anderson reports. The chassis has now arrived at Spencer Manufacturing and they indicate the city can expect a late September/early October delivery of this vehicle.
