The competition for jobs is intense so people who have resumes that stand out in quality and appearance and people who interview well have an advantage when seeking work.
Job Club Workshops that provide help and practice in topics such as resume writing, networking, electronic applications and interviewing skills are being made available for people who are preparing to re-enter the workforce. Region IV Area Agency on Aging is offering these free workshops that are open to anyone but focus especially on low-income seniors (age 50 and older) and adults with disabilities in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties. Each six- session series will be presented in Decatur at the Van Buren District Library and at the Mendel Center on Lake Michigan College Campus in Benton Township. Participants will benefit most if they attend all sessions in the series; however, they may attend individual sessions.
Job Club Workshops will be held at the Van Buren District Library, 200 North Phelps St., Decatur. Each session will meet from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on the following Tuesdays: May 18, June 1, June 15, June 29, July 13 and July 20.
Job Club Workshops at the Mendel Center on East Napier Avenue in Benton Township will be held on Wednesdays on the following dates: May 12, June 2, June 16, June 30, July 14 and July 21, 2010.
Advance reservations are appreciated but not necessary. To make a reservation or to get more information, call (269) 925-7170 ext. 235.
